Dear colleagues:

Welcome to the February edition of the IAF Europe Newsletter, full of helpful and interesting information about facilitation.

Learn about Schumacher College’s intriguing Ecological Facilitation course. The College has learned that the leadership skills needed to facilitate the health of ecological systems can be used as inspiration for facilitating healthy social systems – including work places. Learn more at page 4.

Five new Certified Professional Facilitators have joined our ranks, thanks to the CPF assessment held in Geneva in December. Learn all about the event in Pamela Lupton-Bowers’ story starting on page 8.

Sona Karikova has been sharing her research on how facilitators deal with uncertainty and shares what she has learned from a group of experienced facilitators, starting on page 10. She is planning to hold some public workshops, so let her know if you are interested!

More than 200 people got together in Denmark in early December for the First Facilitator Get-Together. Louise Werner Gielsager tells us what happened, and what will happen next (including a Facilitator Jam), starting on page 15.

Technical Toolbox:
A foot injury just before Christmas means columnist Gillian Martin Mehers has had to learn how to facilitate when she cannot move around as usual – read all about it in The Big Slow Down starting on page 20. The IAF Methods Database shares information about the “Project Tree” on page 19, and Sandor Schuman shares his rules of problem solving with us starting on page 22.

Member News:
Robert Verheule has joined our team in the Professional Development role; planning for the October 2011 Istanbul conference is well under way; and check out upcoming workshops and meetings, all starting on page 25.
